The conversion pixel must be installed on every page of your website in order to run campaigns and enhance e-commerce purchases. Let’s have a look at what it is and how to set it up in three simple steps.
What is a Pixel, and what is the purpose of the TikTok Pixel?
The pixel, as a JavaScript code, is used as a measurement software to collect data about how consumers interact with a website. When a user visits a website, the pixel is active and tracks their activities there. In this scenario, the TikTok Pixel correlates the impact of your adverts on the platform with a user’s engagement on your website. Your marketing staff will be able to keep track of sales and user activity, as well as have access to high-quality data to target the right consumers.
The pixel captures information about the ad when the user interacts with it, the time when events are triggered, the IP address to determine the user’s geographic location, and the device from which the user was influenced.
The pixel is most commonly used for the following purposes:
Measuring a campaign’s performance: The pixel measures the performance of both advertising and conversions, as well as the return on ad spend, based on the events you designate during the pixel’s installation (ROAS).
Optimization of Ad Delivery: Set campaign optimization goals based on events to target people who are most likely to add to a cart or buy on your website.
Create retargeting audiences: You can personalize audiences based on information from pixel events to reconnect with people or create audiences with users who are similar to your customers to find new customers.
To generate and install the TikTok Pixel, follow these three steps.
To be able to access and use the information collected by the pixel in the manner described above, all of the procedures for the TikTok pixel’s optimal installation must be completed.
- Make the pixel and put it in place.
Create a Website Pixel as shown in the attached photos in TikTok Ads Manager > Assets > Event Manager, give it a name, and choose how to install it.
We propose that the pixel’s name be the same as the website’s or domain’s name. The maximum character length, including spaces, is 128 characters.
The TikTok pixel can be added to your website in two ways: manually or through a third-party service like Shopify. We recommend installing it manually, in this way, you can add parameters and install it from the codebase or GTM.
- Define your events.
Create events to keep track of user actions. The pixel will not track event activity and will not provide information to your marketing team if there are no defined events.
Before you define the events, don’t forget to choose an event tracking template!
- Take a look at TikTok Pixel Helper.
Remember to carry out the installation of the TikTok Pixel Helper plugin to ensure that the TikTok pixel is appropriately installed on your website and that the events are properly triggered.
Having a conversion pixel in your digital strategy is critical for measuring the performance of your social media efforts.
To optimize, personalize, and measure your TikTok campaigns, remember to identify and specify the events once the TikTok pixel is placed, and utilize the Pixel Helper to double-check that everything is properly.
